THE HONEST WOODCUTTER

ONCE upon a time there was a woodcutter. He and his family lived by cutting firewood from forest and selling it. Every morning the wood cutter would wake up and go to the nearby forest to cut firewood and bring it to the market tosell it, and that was how he got his daily food. One day the woodcutter went to the forest with his axe as usual. There he noticed a broken tree on the bank of the river and he decided to cut the firewood from it.He started cutting the tree but while cutting the tree, the axe slipped from his hand and fell into the river. the woodcutter could not bear the pain and sat down by the river and began to cry. How can i go home with all the axe gone? I come there with my wife and children hungry! Thus he sat by the river and wept so he didint even know the time passed. It was evening he began to go to his house full of sorrow. Sddenly he saw a light in the river. A goddess appeared in the river. He couldnt believe his eyes. The goddess asked him..... "Why are you so Worried?" He narrated the incident to the goddess. After telling the Woodcutter to wait for a moment, the deity diappeared. He was waiting for the goddess by the River, and the goddess handed the golden axe to the woodcutter. He said This is not my axe... The goddess disappeared again and returned with a silver axe.Seeing this, the woodcutter told the goddess "Oh this is not my axe either-" The goddesss disappeared again. When he came back this time he had an iron axe in his hand. Seeing this the woodcutter jumped for joy "THIS IS MY AXE,THIS IS MY AXE!!!" he shouted.... Seeing this happiness, the goddess gave him the three axes thus said...
"This is the gift for your honesty.Accept these three things. Then make your life Better and good will come to you." Saying this the deity dissapeared.. The woodcutter returned home with the three axes he got and made his life better. He lived Happily with his family ever after!.
